Novice Trick Title Workshop $40

This workshop focuses on the tricks required to pass the Novice Trick Dog Title test based on the Do More With Your Dog Titling program.

This fun 2 hour workshop will introduce you to the world of trick training.  Every behavior could be considered a trick in that all behaviors are taught using the same methods, but tricks are primarily meant to entertain.

For the Novice Trick Dog (NTD) title, the working team must demonstrate 15 tricks of novice or higher level.  Advanced and Expert tricks count for two tricks at this level.  Half of the tricks can be lured at this level, and things like sit stay, come, heel, etc. are all tricks your dog may already know.

In this workshop I will teach a number of useful and flashy tricks that you and your dog will enjoy.  I will also pass on some training tips and methodologies that might make training easier and more fun.

Since this is the most basic level of trick titles, I try to focus on what I call fundamental tricks.  These are tricks that will be used to teach other more complicated tricks later.  These include nose and paw targeting, going to a mark or a pedestal and staying till released, gaining awareness of rear end and working balance and core strength.

Some of the tricks you will learn, crawl, leg weave, back to target, go to spot, play dead, shake -> high 5 -> wave, which hand holds the treat, leave it, take it and more.

Things to bring:  A bed or mat, lots of small tastey treats, a clicker if you prefer using one (marker word works fine at this level) and a couple of favorite toys (plush toys for fetching and something to tug with)
